What I've learned from my Pup

Deuce, my 2 year old double doodle (hence his name), also affectionately referred to by my Vet, as his "wild child," knows a lot about living in the present moment. He doesn't use his ego or thinking to rule his life. Deuce chases what makes him joyful, listens to his body, honors his instincts without apology (novel concept, eh?), knows what he needs to live and does just that.

Of course, we are humans and not doggies, so we have responsibilities and commitments to tend to. That being said, we would be well served to adopt some of our furry friends' way of life into our own daily lives, wouldn't we?

I've been on a journey of reconnecting with myself and one tiny nugget I'm choosing to honor myself with is meditation. Meditation can fit into anyone's lifestyle, religion or values. It doesn't have to be "woo-woo" or out there to be effective. I'm currently using the Insight Timer app - https://insighttimer.com/ and find it so helpful leading an extremely busy life. Sometimes I only have 1 minute, sometimes I have 20 or 30 minutes. As with all things, you have to figure out what works for you.

If you haven't meditated before, I can tell you that it takes practice to keep your mind quiet, but once you allow for it, it's like a dreamy vacation for your brain! My life coach (one of them at least and she's brilliant) refers to our brains as "monkey minds" and while meditating you may need to gently bring your mind back to center hundreds of times. That's okay!!! Be kind and patient with yourself, always.

What is one thing you can choose today to honor yourself and live in the present?
